Capt Donozio Kahonda

Ruhinda North MP (Rtd) Capt. Donozio Kahonda has sentenced has been sentenced to Nine months in Kirinya Prison by Jinja Chief Magistrate John Francis Kagwa for forgery and uttering false documents

Kahonda had been held Kirinya Prison in Jinja on 14 counts which include using fake academic documents and impersonation.

Kahonda, this who in 2016 defeated NRA historical and powerful Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire in the MP race, was arrested on Wednesday before being paraded at the Chief Magistrate’s court in Jinja.

It all started in October 2015 with the arrest of the retired Captain.

It was alleged then that Kahonda on November 11, 2001 at military academy in Jinja district with intent to defraud or deceive uttered false documents in the particulars of Dickson Mutabazi, purporting that it was a genuine document whereas not.

The political mood was tense as many observers looked at the case as politically motivated to weaken the man who was threatening to extinguish Otafiire’s political career.

During the hearing of the case, Kahonda secured bail before winning the election with a landslide that shook Mitooma district, an area once considered Otafiire’s stronghold.

The little known Kahonda rode the sympathy card that did not only leave Kahinda humiliated but also politically vulnerable.

It was not until June 7 that hell broke loose.

ChimpReports understands that on arrival at court for a ruling, Kahonda discovered that the magistrate had decided to convict him for impersonation, uttering false documents, forgery among other counts.

Throughout hearing of the case, Kahonda denied the charges.

Kahonda’s friends said he would lodge in his Notice of Appeal today after sentencing before seeking bail.
