The Gaguang Community in Australia has congratulated Riek Machar upon his appointment as the first Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan and promotion of their sons to the rank of Major generals.

He thanked Machar and the entire leadership of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement In Opposition (SPLM-IO) for the promotion of four of their sons.
“Your Excellency, Gaguang Community in Australia are hereby expressing their profound gratitude to you and the entire Movement’s Leadership for the recent promotion of our sons to the rank of Major Generals and Leadership assignment in SPLA IO,” the letter read in part.
Banak also asked the Vice President to consider giving the community a fair and equitable representation in the Transition Government of National Unity and State Government as well.
“As Community who have immensely contributed to the two wars of resistance against the Regime of Khartoum and recent brutal Regime of Kiir, and that we believe, to be recognized and given our fair share in both National and State and as well”
The community members that were promoted included; Major General David Ngut Kun Thoal, Major General James Deng Chuol Lam, Major General James Kayier Lual Nyany and Major General Peter Gatwech Thor Kuoth.
