UCU Lady Cardinals 1-2 Kawempe Muslim

And the pre-match hype lived to the billing as both sides put up a thrilling game with end to end action.

Diminutive striker Juliet Nalukenge gave Kawempe the lead heading home Hasifah Nassuna’s cross from a corner kick in the 18th minute.
Nassuna’s long ball met Nalukenge unmarked in the 6 yard box planting a firm effort of the head into the top left corner and goalkeeper Cissy Nakiguba had no chance.
Nasunna, the reigning MVP almost doubled the lead at the half hour mark, with a well curled free kick but was denied by the post with the ball ricocheting off before clearance by Arao Patience.
Clumsy defending from UCU Cardinals defence gifted Kawempe with a second goal with midfielder Apon Sharon doubling the lead for the visitors.
A free kick from right back Viola Namuddu was met by an unmarked Apon on the far end and she headed home for Kawempe’s second goal.
However, the home side returned recharged in the second stanza and skipper Annet Kinavudori scored from a free kick four minutes after the hour mark.
UCU continued surging upfront for the equaliser pilling pressure on Kawempe but the defending champions held on to claim maximum points.
The result means, Kawempe maintain lead in the Elizabeth group on nine points while UCU Lady Cardinals remain in second spot on six points same as third placed Muteesa I Royal university.
