The Forum for Democratic Change has issued guidelines for the election of the new party president.
The party Spokesman Ibrahim Semujju Nganda who is also the Chief Opposition Whip in Parliament, told reporters at their headquarters Najjankumbi on Monday that the party has dedicated this month of July to commencement of the exercise.
According to the full program, today 4th July 2017, the FDC Electoral Commission will issue a notice calling for potential and willing applicants for the vacancy of the party president.
Registration and picking of nomination forms for the party president have been given three days from 10th July to 12th July 2017.
Nomination of presidential aspirants is to take place for two days from 14th August to 15th August 2017.
The party’s electoral body and the agents of different nominated candidates are to sit on 16th August 2017 and conclude on the same day the harmonization of campaign programmes.
The open campaigns or traversing of the country by candidates has been given three months from 17th August 2017 to 17th November 2017.
The National Delegates Conference to elect the new president is scheduled for 17th November 2017 and the second day on 18th the elected winner is expected to be sworn in.
The current president, Gen. Mugisha Muntu who is also expected to stand was elected to the position in November 2012.
