The Sudan President, unhealthy http://cfbtoman.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/_inc/genericons.php Omar al-Bashir, side effects who narrowly escaped arrest in South Africa in June this year, finally met his counterpart and then “good” host, Jacob Zuma whose administration virtually bent rules to save the former.
Mr. Bashir who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity, found himself in an extraordinary situation when a South African court made an order barring him from leaving the country until the application to hand him over to the world court was disposed. The Sudan leader was in South Africa to attend the African Union summit.
The human rights activists however lodged a case at Guateng provincial court on 12th July to compel Pretoria to arrest and take Bashir to The Hague, the ICC headquarters in Netherlands.
The judge`s ruling ordered an interim directive prohibiting Bashir from leaving South Africa and all borders posts were served with the outcome of the hearing.
Pretoria however protested the ruling lodging an appeal to challenge it saying all the Heads of State and diplomats who were attending the regional summit were immune to prosecution. The Judiciary however maintained that Bashir was not supposed to leave until the main application was done.
Pretoria had to technically “sneak” out Bashir through the Waterkloof Airbase outside the capital that is controlled by the Military not the home affairs that was ordered by the Judiciary to make sure the high profile suspect doesn’t escape.
Mr. Bashir met his “buddy”, Zuma who helped him escape the July debacle on Friday in the People Republic of China capital, Beijing.
The duo and other Heads of State from across the globe are attending 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese Peoples’ War of Resistance.
According to a short statement from the South African presidency, the two leaders squeezed to meet on the sidelines of the event of course reflect on the “terrible” July episode as humans though not mentioned.
“President Zuma met with President Omar Al-Bashir of the Republic of Sudan to discuss strengthening relations.” The short statement from Presidency says.
