Fufa Women’s Cup: Kawempe Drawn Against Muteesa in Quarterfinals

After a successful round of 16 phase, pills the inaugural Fufa Women’s cup enters into the final stages.

The draws of the quarter finals were conducted on Wednesday morning at Fufa’s headquarters with a couple of interesting fixtures.

Reigning Fufa Women elite league champions, Kawempe Muslim have been drawn against tricky Muteesa I Royal University.

Both Kawempe Muslim and Muteesa are in the same group in the Fufa Women elite league (Elizabeth group). The league encounter between the two sides in the league ended in a 2-0 victory for Kawempe.

Muteesa I Royal University eliminated She Makerere at the round of 16 with a 1-0 win courtesy of Sharon Namatovu while Kawempe Muslim edged past Ajax Queens in a tense penalty shootout.

In the other draws, Mbarara’s Western United who got a walkover against Masaka SS will be at home in Rugando against UCU Lady Cardinals. The University side also got past Kampala Queens on penalties.

Taggy High School, the only team that doesn’t feature in the elite league have been pitted against Soroti’s Olila High School while Gafford Ladies will play at home in Kanyanya to She Corporate.

The quarter final fixtures will be played beginning on the weekend of 26th March 2017 and the final is scheduled to take place in May in Busia District.
