Fufa Women Elite League: Match Day Two Preview

Match day two will have seven games on card this weekend

The Fufa Women Elite League (FWEL) enters match day two with seven fixtures on the card across the two groups of Elizabeth and Victoria.

Match day two starts on Saturday with six fixtures while the other fixture involving Riness and Kampala Queens will be played on Sunday.

Elizabeth Group.

She Corporate welcome back midfielder Halima Kembambazi who limped off during the game against Uganda Martyr’s but resumed training this week and will be available for selection.

On the other hand, Hadihah Namuyanja alias Lady Mourihno will be in charge for the first game as She Makerere coach.

She Corporate occupy sixth position after one game while She Makerere are 5th even without playing a single game.

Wakiso Hills vs Ajax Queens

Wakiso district headquarters Wakiso Hills opened the season with a one all draw against Gafford and come into this encounter in 4th position but face group leaders Ajax Queens.

The Bulenga based side have maximum points in two games after defeating Eastern Heroes and Olila High 1-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Ajax Queens will rely on skipper Lukiya and new recruit Bridget Nabisaalu who has already impressed in the first two games since joining from UCU Lady Cardinals.

Olila High vs Gafford Ladies – (Olila playground, Soroti)

Both teams had a poor start to the season with Olila falling 3-1 to Ajax Queens while Gafford Ladies were held to a one all draw away to Wakiso Hills.

John Ongodia, the Olila coach believes this is the right moment for them to recover from the loss and make amends.

Gafford on the other hand have had a massive player exodus including skipper Florence Nakalule who has since moved to Ajax Queens while the formidable duo of Burundian imports Fallone Nahimana and Aniella Uwimana have not returned to the team with the former likely to join She Corporate.

Elizabeth Group

London Stallions vs Muteesa I Royal University – (Seeta Church of Uganda)

After a heavy 7-0 defeat at the hands of defending champions Kawempe Muslim, London stallions will come into the game against Muteesa I Royal University with one aim and that’s to seek redemption.

They currently sit rock bottom of the league and take on Muteesa who began the season with a hard fought 2-1 win against Kampala Queens and now occupy third spot in the Elizabeth group.

Western United vs UCU Lady Cardinals – (Rugando)

The Mukono based side make the long trip to Mbarara on the back of a 2-0 win over a depleted She Buikwe Red stars on Wednesday and will be hoping to grab all three points against Western United who have one point after picking a goalless draw against Riness in their first game.

Kawempe Muslim vs She Buikwe Red stars –(Valley ground)

The defending champions began with an emphatic 7-0 win over minnows London stallions and will play host to a weak and depleted Buikwe Red stars who have lost a number of influential players.

Christine Wanyana who has been the team captain resigned, while experienced Annet Nakimbugwe and Hadijjah Nampijja have since joined Kampala Queens.

Kawempe Muslim will be without midfielder Tracy Akiror who is engaged with examinations at Kampala University.

It will depend on coach Ayub Khalifa whether to field captain Hasifa Nassuna or not. Nassuna is also doing her UACE examinations at Kawempe Muslim SS.

Riness vs Kampala Queens – (Wakisha R.C)

This will be the only game on Sunday as Rinness who began the campaign with a goalless draw against Western united take on Faridah Bulega’s coached Kampala Queens who lost 2-1 to Muteesa a fortnight ago.
