Abdallah Mubiru will be looking to start his Vipers career with silverware at Muteesa II stadium, this http://ddmdevelopment.com/wp-includes/option.php Wankulukuku as Uganda Cup winners take on Uganda Premier League champions KCCA in the FUFA super cup on Sunday.
Mubiru who joined the Uganda cup holders as head coach last month will be facing his former bosses for the first time since leaving Phillip Omondi in 2014. Similarly his two assistants, George “Best” Nsimbe and John Luyinda who were also previously at KCCA will be renewing acquaintance with their former employees.
New recruits Allan Kayiwa and Brian Kakaire shook off injuries and played in a build up game against Masavu on Wednesday coming on as second half substitutes with Kakaire scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win. Ssentamu Siraje, Pius Wangi and Hassan Kalega are a doubt with the trio having missed out on training this week.
Mubiru could hand new signings Ibrahim Kayiwa, Brian Kakaire and Musa Esenu their Vipers debuts.
The league champions will miss the services of Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Jackson Nunda and Martin Mpuuga while Paul Mucureezi and Muzamir Mutyaba resumed training this week but will be subjected to a late fitness test.
Vipers have had a perfect run in their build up games winning four in four and not conceding any goal. Vipers defeated Buikwe Red stars 3-0,Sadolin paints 1-0 and JMC Hippos 1-0 before defeating Masavu 2-0.
On the other hand, KCCA have played several build up games getting mixed results. Salient among them was a 2-0 win over Kamuli Park, a goalless draw against Simba before drawing and losing to Soana and Proline respectively in the the KCCA Invitational tournament.
Head to head
The last meeting between the two sides came in the semifinals of Uganda cup in May this year with KCCA winning 1-0 courtesy of Derrick Nsibambi in Buikwe.
KCCA have won just three of the last previous ten encounters with Vipers with the latter winning four and three games ending in draws.
KCCA have kept three clean sheets in the ten games against Vipers.
Key facts about the FUFA Super cup
The Fufa super cup started in 2012 with Uganda Revenue Authority winning the inaugural title.
The cup has been contested on four occasions. Three of the four titles have been won by teams that won the league. Only URA went on to lift the trophy after winning the Uganda Cup in 2012.
Five of the seven goals that have been scored in the Fufa super cup since inception have come in first half.
