President Yoweri Museveni has summoned former Prime Minister Hon Amama Mbabazi at State House to answer to among others allegations regarding forgery and spread of hate propaganda.

The news comes in only hours after Mbabazi declared his wish to stand against Museveni in the looming party Primaries and later in the 2016 presidential elections.

Reports emerging from State House indicate the President Yoweri Museveni summoned Mbabazi together with Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.

According to the President’s Press Secretary Mrs Linda Nabusanyi Museveni is expected to question Mbabazi on his role in circulating sectarian messages on social media.

Museveni over the weekend issued a statement stating that a group of Ugandans had forged a letter in which they purported him as writing a letter to slain Libyan President Muammar Gadaffi.

South African Tourism has launched a ‘welcome campaign’ that is aimed at boosting their East African market particularly from Uganda and Kenya.

This was revealed by Mahlaba while meeting journalists at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala were she emphasized that the organization will be showcasing different people who will be narrating their experience during their visit to South Africa.

Mahlaba noted that during the workshops, South African Tourism product owners shall as well showcase their products to the local travel traders in Uganda and Kenya.

“SA Tourism has been successful in marketing South Africa to countries on the rest of continent. Growth from East Africa and in particular Uganda and Kenya has a steady incline in recent years with the most recent arrivals indicating that in 2013, 356,015 and 17,182 tourists visited South Africa from Kenya and Uganda representing a year on year growth of 7.9 percent and 10.7 percent for each market respectively,” Mahlaba explained.

She noted however, the need to partner with other tourism bodies from different countries to boost tourism growth on the African continent.

“The growth and potential of our tourism sector can only be realized if the same growth is happening in countries on the rest of the continent. For South Africa to grow and reach its potential, all of Africa must grow because we are in Africa,” Mahlaba said.

Mahlaba added, “Our participation at the Spotlight on East Africa workshops, and all the other tradeshows we are preparing to take part in this year is an outward show of investment and support for the continent’s travel and tourism industry.”

The workshops will be held in Uganda on Tuesday, June 23 at the Golf Course Hotel and in Kenya on Thursday, June 25 at Westlands Sothern Sun Hotel and on June 26 at Crown Plaza.
