Fuel Thieving UPDF Major Gets 6 Months in Jail

UPDF officer Major Alex Kirabo who was yesterday convicted of duty negligence by the general court martial has been handed 6 months in prison.

Kirabo has been on remand for a year and the court martial handed him the light sentence on grounds that he had no past criminal record.

Court Chairman Major general Levi Karuhanga sentenced the UPDF officer after observing evidence adduced by prosecution that Kirabo failed to properly verify United Nations Support Office for Amisom fuel form one.

The same court yesterday acquitted Kirabo’s co-accused Private Ismail Sekidde on charges relating to false documents due to prosecution’s failure to adduce evidence incrementing him on the same.
