Police have arrested the director of Fuelex Uganda Limited, healing John Imaniraguha, information pills for reportedly smuggling fuel into Uganda.

This followed a complaint and public announcement by the tax governing body, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

“Fugitive fuel smuggler John Imaniraguha, Director of Fuelex has been arrested,” URA announced Wednesday on its official Twitter handle.

Imaniraguha was in May asked by URA to report to the office of the Supervisor Customs Intelligence or Assistant Commissioner enforcement immediately at the body’s head office.

ChimpReports understands the businessman did not comply with the directives hence being hunted by authorities.

This is not the first time Fuelex Uganda is implicated in cases of smuggling and tax evasion as its various gas stations have been closed in the past over the same.

According to the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004 and the penal code Act, smuggling is an offense and is punishable in courts of law.

The authority urged the general public to refrain from smuggling to avoid its associated consequences.
