The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has found a former Vision Group Principal Accountant guilty of embezzlement.

Peter Mubaale, 65, has been sentenced to five years in prison for stealing Shs262m from his employer.

Presiding Judge Margaret Tibulya convicted Mubaale on Tuesday, cancelled his bail and sent him to luzira prison.

Mubaale was found guilty of embezzlement of the said money from New Vision Printing and Publishing Company.

Court found that Mubaale, who had worked for the company since 1989, used to collect cheques from advertisers and then issue receipts to distributors for money paid by advertisers.

“I find that Mubaale issued the receipts in question with intent to defraud the company and I accordingly convict him of the offence,” Justice Tibulya stated in her judgement.

Mubaale, who committed the offence between 2008 and 2013, was also from holding public office for a period of 10 years and ordered to refund Shs262m to Vision Group.
