The Anti-corruption Court on Tuesday charged former UBCe Managing Director Paul Kihika with embezzlement of $9510 and causing financial loss to the national broadcaster.
Kihika denied the charges.
State Prosecutor Peter Mugisha informed court that investigations into the matter were underway and asked for an adjournment
Kihika was informed of his right to bail, but happened not to have ready sureties and asked court to be allowed more time to find them.
“Your worship my relatives don’t know where I am currently because I was arrested last night at 8:00pm at Communications House Kampala and taken to Jinja Road Police,” Kihika told court.
“At the police I had no access to my phone to communicate to them.”
Prosecution alleges that between May 2014 in Kampala district while acting as Managing Director UBC stole $9510 from the corporation, which he had access to by virtue of his office
It is further alleged that between May 2014 and August 2014, Kihika did an act knowing or having reasons to believe that it could cause a financial loss to UBC worthy Us dollars 9510 for a trip to China which he did not attend.
