The Forum for Democratic Change Women’s League have Monday announced plans to supply Mama Kits and Sanitary Pads to women and young girls in different parts of the country, recipe starting with those in Ngora district in Eastern Uganda.

Sara Eseru the Women’s League spokesperson told reporters yesterday that the move follows  government’s failure to provide these essential items.

Last year during his campaigns, about it President Yoweri Museveni promised nationwide provision of sanitary pads to all school going girls, starting with the next financial year.

This did not happen due to insufficient resources according to Education Minister Janet Museveni.

FDC’s Eseru however, pointed out the irony that while this money couldn’t be found, government was busy dishing out free money, citing the Shs 6billion Presidential handshake.

“They have failed to fulfill their pledge to young girls not because they don’t have money… The man just hates women,” said Eseru.

“Whoever is near Mr. Museveni should tell him that FDC Women’s League is going to fulfill his pledge in his manifesto”.

During the campaign, the FDC women expect to increase mobilization and also recruitment more women into the party, on top of empowering them with information to improve their livelihood and healthcare.

At the Ngora function, the party president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu is expected as guest of honor and will be accompanied by former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye.
