Opposition Forum for Democratic Change has decided to quit the Parliamentary Interparty Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) until a new Memorandum of Understanding is drafted and signed by all members.
The party spokesperson, cheapest http://crewftlbr.org/wp-admin/includes/dashboard.php Ibrahim Semujju Nganda told media on Monday that a decision was taken by the party’s Working Committee which sat last Friday and voted out of IPOD until it is fully restructured as per its purposes.
“To avoid confusion within IPOD following the issues that you all know, drugs http://coventryrugby.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/mc4wp-debug-log.php FDC will be out and will not participate in any activities other than working towards the restructuring and reconstituting the organization, buy ” Nganda said.
The FDC has been currently chairing IPOD through Hon Nandala Mafabi but Nganda noted that their term ended after the end of the concluded general elections.
“First of all, there is no IPOD now; by the time we went into another term of office, FDC was the chair. You must understand that IPOD has a Summit which is a committee of Chairpersons of Political parties that are in Parliament according to the old Memorandum.”
“The old memorandum was signed by the six of us, NRM, CP, UPC, DP, JEEMA and FDC. The last elections changed things and we no longer have CP and JEEMA in Parliament, but by the time we went into elections, the FDC was the Chair of the Council.
The decision to quit IPOD follows a controversial meeting by IPOD members with President Museveni at State House in Entebbe in the absence of FDC, whose agenda incensed the leading opposition party.
Nganda noted that the members that went for a retreat in Jinja which culminated in the State House meeting wanted to maintain the status quo but without success.
“That’s why we are saying no, let’s first constitute IPOD, redefine our membership, leadership and the roles so that we can resume; but for now, there is no IPOD because there is no memorandum signed,”
“If IPOD maintains that it will be an organization of politic parties in Parliament, we will have to sign another memorandum excluding CP and JEEMA since they are still demanding to participate.”
