The National Executive Committee of Forum for Democratic Change currently sitting at the party headquarters, Najjanakumbi has drastically increased the nomination fee for party Presidency by 150 percent from Shs 2m to Shs 5m.
ChimpReports learnt today that the meeting that is being chaired by Vice President in charge of Eastern region, Alice Alaso concluded on the matter at 12:45pm.
“We have already exhausted the item concerning the nomination fee and it’s going to be 5m cash for each candidate,” a source who is attending the meeting said.
This website understands that the proposal to increase the amount was moved by the party Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi who is expected to stand against the incumbent, Gen. Mugisha Muntu in the coming election in November.
FDC last week issued its presidential election roadmap in which registration and picking of nomination forms is to take place from 10th July to 12th July 2017.
Nomination of presidential aspirants is to take place for two days from 14th August to 15th August 2017.
The party’s electoral body and the agents of different nominated candidates will sit on 16th August 2017 and conclude on the same day the harmonization of campaign programs.
The open campaigns or traversing of the country by candidates has been given three months from 17th August 2017 to 17th November 2017.
The National Delegates Conference to elect the new president is scheduled for 17th November 2017 and the second day on 18th the elected winner is expected to be sworn in.
