Forum for Democratic Change party has defied police orders barring the former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye from travelling to Teso region on Saturday.
Chimpreports earlier today reported that Police cancelled Besigye’s trip to the region due to the changes in the FDC agenda.
According to the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, see http://cu1cali.com/curaduria/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor-imagick.php Francis Tumwesigye, click http://concursofotografia.orihuela.es/wp-includes/pomo/entry.php the opposition party had sought the clearance letter from the Inspector General of Police on the grounds that Dr. Besigye was going to address his supporters on land issues and the state of economy.
Police alleges that FDC has changed the agenda to Women’s Day celebrations in Ngora district.
However, the organizing committee for the Teso event, headed by Sarah Eperu who is also the FDC National Secretary for Women’s League, said the programme is going on as planned.
Ms. Eperu said the IGP, Gen. Kale Kayihura had already cleared the event for Saturday and Sunday and they cannot relent to the new development.
“I wrote a letter to Gen. Kayihura about the FDC Women Day’s Celebrations to take place tomorrow Saturday and he gave us a go ahead,” she said in statement posted on social media.
“Now, one day to the event the same Kayihura wants to stop the function.”
She accused the IGP of trying to antagonize the opposition when they are still mourning the AIGP Felix Kaweesi who was assassinated last week.
“Kayihura has started antagonizing with opposition even when we are still mourning Kaweesi. Come rain, come sunshine the function will go on tomorrow.”
