FBL: Masavu Cement Lead at Rwenzori Group Summit

Masavu Football Club cemented their lead in the Rwenzori group of the Fufa Big league with a comfortable win over Kireka United in the game played at Katabi grounds on Thursday.

Goals from Kenneth Tumusiime and second half substitute Charles Odeke ensured Masavu bagged all three points despite Kireka United pulling back one through Tonny Kiguli.

Masavu enjoyed most of the possession creating several chances but were wasteful in front of goal especially in the first half.

Defender Moses Kiggundu got the first chance at goal in the fifth minute but failed to convert John Ssemwanga’s cross.

Masavu had another chance in the 16th minute off a counter attack started off by Wafula and Tumusiime but the Wafula’s effort hit the cross bar.

Tumusiime too got a chance to break the deadlock in the 25th minute but he failed to put the ball past goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa.

The visitor’s had their first attempt two minutes later but Daniel Otto’s cross went begging with no one to connect to it.

Both teams went into halftime levelled with no goals scored.

Tumusiime took chance of a goal melee in the Kireka United defence and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Omedwa.

The lead was short lived and two minutes later striker Tonny Kiguli headed home for the visitors.

It was second half substitute Charles Odeke who came on for John Ssemwanga in the 55th minute that grabbed the winner in the 74th minute.

Odeke headed home Moses Kiggundu’s cross to send a fully packed Katabi grounds into a frenzy.

The win means Masavu now lead Rwenzori group on 20 points five above Nyamityobora who are second on 15 points.
