President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday forestalled a potential nasty scene at one of his rallies in Katakwi district, website http://daylesfordartshow.com.au/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/deprecated/tribeeventsoptionsexception.php when he reconciled Minister of Education, http://couponadventures.com/wp-includes/class-wp-simplepie-sanitize-kses.php Sports and Science and Technology Jessica Alupo with the Eastern Youth Member of Parliament Peter Ogwang.
The two political heavyweights from Teso region who come from the same county (Usuk) almost exchanged blows at a rally in their area in the presence of the president who is also their party chairman.
Alupo and Ogwang’s have long been involved in power struggle in the sub region and disagreed on who is more close to the president.
The fight between the two reached the boiling point at Awojabule village in Katakwi district when Ogwang asked the president to declare to the public if he is still politically supporting minister Alupo who lost in the recent NRM primaries, yet wants to stand on an independent ticket against the party`s flag bearer.
Usually when Museveni finishes his campaigns, he calls on the NRM flag bearers to join him on the podium to receive his blessings.
During this session, when handed the microphone, MP Ogwang immediately informed the president that some ‘bad losers’ were threatening the NRM stability and should be restrained.
“Your Excellency we want to hear from you here if it is true that you are backing some of the failures amidst us here. We had a very free and fair (primary) election here and those who won won it peacefully and fairly. Those who failed also lost it fairly and there should not be any confusion,” Ogwang said.
Minister Alupo was meanwhile seated in the president`s tent together with her Teso Affair`s colleague, Christine Aporu. Being a cabinet and reserve force member (of the UPDF), Maj. Alupo couldn’t jump to the podium where her Commander-in-Chief was calmly doing the listening.
Sensing an imminent hullaballoo, Museveni left his specially secured podium and strode to the regular one to defuse the tension between two heavyweights, that has also sucked in a third person.
Ms. Violet Akurut who defeated Alupo in the NRM primaries was also not been seeing eye-to-eye with the minister.
The president brought the three near him making sure Ogwang stood together with Alupo and Akurut on their side. He then asked the public to leave the matter of the trio for him to handle.
“Are these children of mine going to die because I made them to stand together? If they die I am going to pick the bodies and bury them. Leave their issues to me, they are all my children,” he said.
