The race for The Democratic Alliance flag-bearer for the 2016 elections is getting steamy with four potential candidates holding a private meeting at Royal Suites, sildenafil http://crmsoftwareblog.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php Bugolobi, Kampala.

TDA’s Joint Candidate Selection Committee has Friday asked Dr Kizza Besigye, Hon Amama Mbabazi, Prof Gilbert Bukenya and Norbert Mao to select among themselves whom they think should challenge President Museveni’s hold onto power in 2016.

According to a highly placed source at the TDA Summit, “we asked them to choose who they want to be the opposition coalition flag-bearer.”

It remains unclear if what the quartet decides will be final or subject to approval by the summit.

TDA’s criterion of selecting the Joint Presidential Candidate has bruised hearts, with FDC accusing the opposition-leaning alliance of favouring Amama Mbabazi.

FDC officials maintain that Mbabazi cannot be trusted with an opposition flag since he has refused to quit NRM.

“I can’t say the criteria of choosing the joint candidate was unfair to Dr Besigye,” said FDCs’ John Kikonyogo.

“But they changed the criteria for selecting a candidate. For example key requirements such as popularity and having structures were removed,” he told ChimpReports in an exclusive interview on Friday.

He said TDA would rather wind up and “don’t waste our time,” adding, “Let candidates plan their presidential campaigns instead of engaging them in incessant useless TDA meetings.”

Kikonyogo said he saw some so “’called eminent persons who don’t deserve the ’eminent’ tag on their names,” adding, “The way they were awarding marks in selection committee to candidates was so silly on top of being ridiculous tending to callousness.”

According to the TDA protocol, two members from each political group in the TDA and eminent persons are expected to decide on who carries the flag for the opposition in the 2016  elections.
