Former Soroti County Member of Parliament Peter Omollo will be laid to rest on Monday according to the statement from the Chairperson Teso Parliamentary Group (TPG), Bishop Patrick Okabe.
The former legislator passed Thursday evening at Mulago Hospital where he had been admitted.
Hon Florence Ibbi, the former Woman MP Kaberamaido District yesterday told reporters the deceased was rushed to the national referral hospital where he was diagnosed with acute pneumonia.
She said he unfortunately passed as doctors tried to find veins to conduct a blood transfusion.
PTG chair told Chimpreports the body of Omollo will be laid to rest on Monday at his ancestral home in Kamuda Sub County, Soroti district.
“FDC and Teso have lost an icon; a man who was a staunch opposition and an advocate for good governance,” Okabe said.
The deceased represented Soroti in the 8th and 9th Parliament and also served in the Constituency Assembly that developed the 1995 constitution.
He was one of the most vocal legislators of the 8th Parliament.
His contribution was minimal in the ninth Parliament after falling sick barely a year after being re-elected.
He has died at the age of 62.
