Speaking during the handover, Dr. Isabalija said he was happy that he has left the company at a higher level than he found it five years ago when he assumed office.
“It feels good that the company that I found managing one or two dams in 2011 now boasts of 4 dams,” Dr. Isabalija said.
He implored his successor to ensure she builds on what has been left behind.
The new board chairperson, Eng. Proscovia Margaret Njuki said her main task would be ensuring power generation that would see all corners of the country lit.
She said this she would do by ensuring the development of more small hydro dams like Nyagak throughout the country.
“We are soon unveiling a 5 year strategic plan that starts in 2018.We are yet to undertake a feasibility study to clearly see the damage before embarking on the refurbishment of Nalubaale dam,”she said.
Speaking on behalf of the Finance Ministry which is the biggest shareholder in UEGCL, the State Minister for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite tasked the new company board chairperson to ensure they produce enough electricity to feed the country as part of the efforts to reach the middle income status.
