Education Ministry Suspends Pension Payments

The Ministry of education has withheld the payment of pension for more than 450 retired employees, help for lack of Life Certificates.

For purposes of minimizing payments to ghost pensioners, page all pensioners in the country who have earned pension for an aggregated period of 15years are required by regulations to submit life certificates on annual basis to confirm their existence as a basis for continued remittance of their pension benefits.

The Education Ministry this week published a list of 466 pensioners in this category who have not fulfilled this requirement.

In a press statement, the ministry revealed that all these head their payments suspended pending submission of the said life certificates.

The affected persons were urged to  fill life certificates obtainable from the office of the Chief Administrative Officer and submit them to the Ministry of Education and Sports not later than 5:00pm 20th January, 2017.
