The programme was released by Eng. Badru Kiggundu, the EC chairperson during a press conference at the commission’s headquarters on Thursday morning.
He noted that there are a total of 79 candidates who were successfully nominated to contest in the Parliamentary and Local Council Elections, including Councilors representing special interest groups.
According to Eng. Kigundu, the commission will dispatch polling kits to the districts starting Saturday August 27th after which there will be internal distribution of the materials to all sub countries for eventual distribution to polling stations.
This, he said is in a bid to ensure that the election process commences on time.
He advised all designated candidates and agents to report to their respective Sub Country offices before 6am on the morning of Monday elections so as to observe the dispatch of the polling kits to their respective polling stations.
“Political parties and independent candidates are encouraged to appoint in writing and deploy their agents at polling stations in each respective district” said Eng Kigundu.
Polling will take place on Monday 29th August and voting beginning at 7:00am to 4:00pm, as counting of votes and announcing of results shall follow.”
