Dropped UPC Ministerial Nominee to be Appointed Ambassador

UPC’s ministerial nominee Ruth Acheng who was dropped by President Yoweri Museveni will be appointed Ambassador.

ChimpReports has exclusively learnt that the president has made a decision to post Ruth Acheng to one of the South American countries that Uganda is concluding the opening of either an Honorary Consulate or an embassy.

Acheng was appointed State Minister for Fisheries only for the nomination to be withdrawn following immense pressure on Museveni from the National Resistance Movement leaders from Lango sub-region.

The leaders who camped at State House for two days argued that the opposition UPC had eaten the better part of the Cabinet opportunities for the NRM members from the region.

We understand the same Lango leaders requested the President to look for “something else” for Acheng.

Acheng worked closely with President Museveni in the North and Eastern Uganda during the presidential campaigns late last year.

She lost her parliamentary seat to NRM’s Judith Alyek.

The NRM Secretariat officials say Acheng was not offered any logistics but committed her own resources in campaigning for Museveni.
