Newly-appointed NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi is stepping up plans to contest for West Budama North parliamentary seat in the approaching 2016 general elections.

Dr Odoi will strive to uproot the current area MP Fox Odoi whose repute in the area has over the past months been on free fall.

The former Makerere University Academic Staff Association [MUASA] Chairman also resigned his position as spokesperson of the Tieng Adhola Cultural Institution to focus on this cause.

His recent appointment by President Museveni as the Ruling NRM EC head looks to have momentously catapulted his political ambitions.

In the previous 2011 election, Odoi is reported to have declined contesting for the same seat at the request of president Museveni.

He apparently told off the president that his vision was becoming the Makerere University Vice Chancellor and not in Parliament.

After the office fell to Prof Ddumba Sentamu,  and he was no longer MUASA Chairmen,  he is now bracing for parliament.

Dr Tanga is largely endeared amongst the Japadhola, majorly due to his efforts to block the splitting of Tororo into two more districts.

In his resignation later as Adhola spokesperson, Odoi promised to “continue supporting the cultural institution wherever possible.”

“My Parliamentary bid will open more avenues for me to serve the institution and people of Padhola better and with your prayers I will win this constituency,” he said.
