The elections are slated for 30th December 2016, sales during the ICOB-U convention to be held at White Horse Inn in Kabale from 27th to 30th December 2016.
Dr Runumi, a former Commissioner of Planning at the Ministry of Health, who lost the Kabale municipality seat to independent Andrew Baryayanga Aja is to tussle it out for the ICOB chairperson seat with the incumbent Dr Peter Ngategize, the National Coordinator CICS Secretariat at the ministry of finance and economic planning.
Dr John Wilson Bahane the chairperson of the electoral commission of the convention says that several people have also come out to contest for various positions.
The vice chairperson seat has Grace Mugambirwe Mutebile an employee of the Uganda Revenue Authority who is to face Ismail Kabananukye the author of a book on the clans and totems of the Banyakigezi.
Consolata N Tumwesigye who is running for Secretary is unopposed while the assistant secretary seat has Turiheihi Andrew, and Atwongire Emily Claire,
ICOB-U unites all the people from the Kigezi sub region that live in Uganda as well as in the Diaspora, “out of the arising need to promote the cultural, social and economic development of Banyakigezi.”
It started in 2009 in Kabale and its first Chairperson was Bank of Uganda Governor Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile.
