The Director of Public Prosecution Mike Chibita has Monday evening dismissed as premature, approved http://chelseamamma.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack-connection-banner.php reports that his office had sanctioned murder charges on Matthew Kanyamunyu, who police suspects to have shot dead Kenneth Akena, a social work on Saturday November 12.
The DPP told Chimpreports on phone that this information circulating on social media was not from him.
I have not sanctioned any charges, it would be helpful if you called me tomorrow (Tuesday),” he said. “That is when we will officially brief you on this matter.”
The suspect Kanyamunyu was on Monday expected at the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court where reporters waited all day for Kanyamunyu to be presented.
Police had earlier on the weekend confirmed that Kanyamunyu’s file was ready and that he would be arraigned before court this week.
Sketchy reports emerged earlier today that the suspect together with his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari would be charged with murder together his two brothers as the DPP had confirmed these charges.
The Directorate’s publicist Jane Kajuga was still unavailable for a comment as our phone calls to her went unanswered. We were later told she was out of the country.
