DP Vows to Reclaim Busiro South After Ssematimba Ouster

DP President Norbert Mao

The opposition Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao has cheerily welcomed the verdict by the High Court to cancel the election of Busiro South Member of Parliament Peter Ssematimba over lack of academic qualifications.

Court yesterday nullified Ssematimba’s election, generic http://corephysio.ca/scripts/form/language/italian-utf-8.php becoming the first Member of Parliament to be ousted out of the 10th Parliament..

Ssekigozi petitioned the court on grounds that the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) failed to follow the right procedures when it issued a Certificate of Equivalency to Ssematimba before he picked nomination forms. The certificate was later during the trial found with errors.

In a social media post, page the DP president said the Democratic Party will now start canvassing for votes to ensure that the party reclaims the victory in Busiro as the area has always been a DP stronghold.

“I congratulate DP’s Steven Sekigozi for winning the election petition he filed in court against NRM’s Peter Ssematimba. Busiro South is DP and will remain DP, look ” Mao noted.

“To honor the glorious days when Dr. Ssemogerere represented that constituency and the legacy of the late Hon. Patrick Musisi, father to Sekigozi, let’s get to work to reclaim this seat. All hands on deck.”

In her ruling, the High Court Judge Lydia Mugambe blamed the council of proceeding to issue the certificate without verifying the validity of Ssematimba’s Diploma in Engineering and Electronics which he claimed to have obtained from the Pacific Coast Institute in USA. An email from the institute she noted, which was submitted to court was questionable since it had contradicting dates.
