Government has agreed to accord a state burial to former opposition Democratic Party President John Ssebaana Kizito owing to his contributions toward the country’s development in the various positions he served in the past.
The 83 year old died yesterday at Nakasero Hospital where he was admitted with a stroke.
Kenneth Paul Kakande, DP’s National Publicity Secretary told media that they were happy to learn that government would provide a decent burial to the fallen political giant.
“The late as an iconic leader in Uganda has been granted an official burial because of his great contribution to the country and also having been a member of parliament for Kampala south in 1980,” Kakande said.
“As DP and the whole country we have lost an important pillar, one who fought for the unprivileged and was a true national image”.
The body of Ssebaana Kizito is expected be taken from the funeral home in Bukoto on Thursday and taken to the KCCA Council from 8am-10.
From 11am-5pm the body will lay in the lobby at parliament and thereafter before the plenary. In the evening there will be a night vigil at the deceased home in Kansange
On Friday from 8am-10am, there will be a memorial mass led by the Archbishop of Kampala Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Statewide Insurance Company at sure house.
Thereafter ,a memorial service will be held from 11am -4pm at Namirembe cathedral after which the cortege will proceed to Mpande ; Kalule Luweero District.
On Saturday, the burial will start with a service at 10am and at 2;00pm he will be laid in his permanent home at Mpande Bulemeezu.
