Kakande explained that the candidature of Amama Mbabazi as TDA flag bearer was a result of consensus reached by 8 TDA summit members minus Ken Lukyamuzi as an individual who supported Dr. Kizza Besigye.
DP, Go Forward Pro Change, People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Uganda Federal Alliance (UFA), Uganda Peoples’ Congress (UPC) of Dr. Olara Otunnu, Pressure for National Unity (PNU), JEEMA and Conservative Party (CP) all supported Amama Mbabazi to carry the TDA fag in the coming elections.
“We as DP are not hypocrites and will never be; FDC had already announced their candidate and we also had to announce our candidate as a way of popularizing him.”
