Overwhelmed by their opponents’ physical and body-checking style of play, store the Ugandans lost in all quarters with the Malawi Queens dominating both the first and second quarters thus winning 15-11 and 30-18 margins.
However, there in the third quarter She Cranes captain and shooter Peace Proscovia pulled up her game making 20 baskets though her efforts were not enough as Malawi came back to win 40-30.
At the End of the game, Malawi Queens won with 51-40 for the Cranes.
Peace Proscovia nonetheless earned the best player of the match accolade.
Uganda will now face Zambia in a ‘must-win’ clash if they are to play in the finals and eventually scoop the overall prize.
Zambia also lost their opener with South Africa by 38-63. The top two teams will face off in the finals as the other two contest for a third place. All the four teams are using the tourney to prepare for 2015 world cup.
