This follows the conclusion of a purchase assumption agreement with Bank of Uganda on Friday in which DFCU acquired the assets and assumed some liabilities of Crane Bank.

“The acquisition gives us the impetus to achieve our strategic objectives of building a robust retail operation with multiple delivery channels whilst consolidating our position as a key player in the SME market segment,” Kisaame said.

The MD added, “We are aware that it was a very competitive process, emerging as a successful bidder in this transaction is testament to the Central Bank’s confidence in DFCU as a strong and compliant financial institute.”

Kisaame believes the acquisition also provides a final resolution to the Bank of Uganda intervention in the former Crane Bank and restores confidence in the market.

“With strong and committed shareholders; a large balance sheet, wider customer base and a combined team of experienced and professional staff, DFCU is well positioned to offer innovative and competitive financial solutions to its customers while guaranteeing a sustainable return on investment to its stakeholders.”

Kisaame further revealed that the bank will in the coming months be enhancing digital solutions in line with the goal of improving the customer experience and expanding reach at reasonable cost.

 “As a result of the acquisition, DFCU Bank’s existing and new customers now have access to 66 branches and over 100 ATMs countrywide; this is in addition to the banks mobile and internet banking platforms.”
