Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced deadlines for the issuance of National Identity Cards to the residents of Wakiso, sale http://charadas.org/wp-admin/includes/screen.php Mpigi and Kampala.
State Minister for Internal Affairs Hon James Baba, website http://codesiconsulting.com/wp-includes/template-loader.php while addressing journalists at the Media Centre announced that for avoidance of doubt, the Ministry and the Multi-sectoral stakeholders institutions decided to end Card Issuance in Kampala on Monday, June 15.
“All registered persons are advised to collect their national identity cards at issuance centers in each parish where you registered in Kampala, every day starting from 8:00am to 6:00pm until June 15, 2015 weekends inclusive,” Baba emphasized.
He noted that a total of 1,224,922 persons were enrolled in Kampala Capital City and were successfully verified for issuance of National Identity Cards. Since December 2014 to date (6 months), 767,040 out of 1,224,922 have picked their cards which represents 73 percent.
“All registered persons in Wakiso and Mpigi districts are advised to collect their national identity cards at issuance centers in each parish where you registered daily starting from 8:00am to 6:00pm until Tuesday, June 30 weekend inclusive.”
He added that a total of 857,257 and 122,107 persons were enrolled in Wakiso and Mpigi districts respectively and were successfully verified for issuance of national identity cards. Since February 2015 to-date (4 months), 395,000 and 70,000 have picked their cards; 46 percent and 57 percent respectively.
Baba retaliated that overall, a total of 3.1 million citizens in the country have received their cards covering 38 districts since the issuance of cards commenced on December 3, 2014.
“The exercise is to continue in other districts in the country as laid down in the roadmap and our target is to have all cards printed and issued by end of September 2015.
The minister also revealed that the ministry registered and verified a total of 16.4 million Ugandans of 16 years and above.
