Dates Set for Kayanja’s Poisoning Case Ruling

Ugandan badminton international player Edwin Ekiring has continued to stamp his authority in the continent by maintaining the top spot in the latest World badminton Federation rankings released.

According to the rankings, here Ekiring has so far accumulated 11, information pills 980 points climbing 10 positions from the last released logs despite loosing in the Yonex Mauritius International Championship last week.

Ekiring may however be affected after succumbing to an early loss to Niluka Karunaratne from Sri Lanka by an aggregate of 24-42 (12-21, 12-21) earlier on Tuesday in a 2015 US open championships game.

In women’s category, Bridget Shamim BANGI dropped 21 places downwards to position 134 standing.

The top players in Africa get a direct qualification to the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.  Uganda Badminton Association boss, Mr. Simon Mugabi is happy about Ekiring’s progress and hopes he stays top inorder to qualify.
“If Ekiring keeps getting more points and keeps the top position in Africa he will be able to make it for the Olympics,” Mugabi was quoted by a WBF media.

Buganda Road Court chief magistrate Lilian Bucyana has set the 28th of July as the date for delivering her ruling in case where 30yr old Sekitto Alex Kayanja is accused of poisoning his uncle and former Operation Wembley boss Brig Elly Kayanja.

This followed the closure of the defense by Ssekitto with his sister 25 year old sister Nakabuye Ritah narrated to court her strong bonds with Sekitto  that enabled her to trace him in the police cells where he was detained for a number of days without any of the family members knowledge.

“During the month of April, patient I used to have regular communications with Ssekitto because by that time he had promised to buy me a computer so on 22nd April 2013 I called his phone and it was being picked by soldiers, pill ” she said.

Ritah added that few days later one person by the names of Kyebogedde Alex informed her that Sekitto had been transferred to an unknown destination which forced her together with other family members to visit a number of police stations to trace him but failed.

“Two days after I had failed to locate Sekitto in police cells I went back to Kawempe police station where while sitting at the tailing shop, I saw my brother being brought at the station by an officer Identified as Abbey and other officers but  they didn’t allow anybody to talk to him.”

Ritah added that a few hours after he was brought to Kawempe police station, Ssekito was taken away while wearing a sharia by police officers in a blue car and from there she met him at Buganda road court after four days had elapsed.

On May 9th 2013 Ssekitto Alex Kayanja was charged before Buganda Road court chief magistrate Olive Kazaarwe with attempted murder

Prosecution alleges that on 16th January 2013 Alex Kayanja Ssekitto and others still at large while at Mutundwe tried to cause death to Brig Kayanja.

In February 2013 Brig Elly Kayanja was admitted at Case medical center in Kampala and the experts reported that his blood contained substantial poisonous substances
