Date Set for Kanyamunyu Bail Hearing

Mathew Kanyamunyu has been denied bail

The High Court in Kampala has set the 10th of January 2017 as the date for hearing the bail application filed in by Mathew Kanyamunyu and his two co-accused.

The Prisons Authorities have been ordered to produce the three accused persons in court on that date before High court judge Justice Elizabeth Kabanda who has been assigned to handle this application.

Kanyamunyu, approved his girl friend Cynthia Munwangari and his elder brother Joseph Kanyamunyu jointly applied to be released on bail on grounds that they are responsible members of society who will not abscond once granted bail.

They all face grave charges of murder in which the prosecution says they killed Kenneth Akena on the 12th/November 2016 along Jinja Highway in Kampala.

The production warrants have been signed by the Deputy registrar in charge of criminal matters Mary Khainza to produce these people from Murchison bay and Luzira Prisons Women’s wing.

Today the trio has appeared before Nakawa court grade one magistrate Noah Ssajjabi and prosecution reported that inquiries are still on-going.

They will reappear in Nakawa magistrates court on the  17th/January 2017.
