Cranes Update: Luwagga Expected in Last Training Session

Former Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] Treasurer General and Rukiga County Member of Parliament in Kabale Jack Sabiiti has been entrusted by the party local leadership with the district party treasury.

Sabiiti, thumb http://ciprs.cusat.ac.in/wp-includes/http.php who previously held no position on the Kabale district FDC Committee was elected unopposed as the new treasurer, cost replacing Charles Kagabo.

Hon Sabiiti was the national FDC Treasurer General until October 2014 when he and his deputy Nathan Nandala Mafabi tendered in their resignations citing expiry of their terms and financial challenges.

FDC has been holding grassroots elections since last month in preparations for today [Friday]’s National Delegates Conference at UMA show grounds in Lugogo ahead of the 2016 general elections.

Sabiiti has also declared his interest to stand as Deputy President for Western Uganda, patient a seat that is also being eyed by Francis Mwijukye the FDC national youth league chairperson.

Lydia Turyahumura retained her seat as the Kabale district FDC chairperson unopposed and is being deputized by Dr Pius Ruhemurana who is also the mayor Kabale municipality.

Sentaro Byamugisha Central Municpality LC3 Boss was elected Secretary General while others on the committee included Maclean Batwale, for women Fulugence Turyatemba for mobilization and publicity among others.

Dr Pius Ruhemurana asked the delegates after the elections at Kabale municipal  stadium to support Rtd. Col. Dr. Warren Kizza Besigye for presidency of the party saying that it’s only Dr Besigye that would steer the party to greater heights.

The Uganda Cranes team set to open the 2017 Afcon qualifiers will have their last training match at the Namboole stadium at 10 AM. A total of 25 players are in camp with Gor Mahia’s Geoffrey Walusimbi being the last to arrive two days ago.

“We are having our last training session beginning at 10AM for about one-hour. The training will be closed from the media and public. Botswana is also expected to train on the pitch later at 4pm,” Hamza Nsereko, Cranes media officer in charge of the game told ChimpReports.

Hamza further revealed that they are expecting Portugal-based William Luwagga Kizito to join the rest of the squad later today.

“The squad is fresh with no injuries. We have 25 players in camp and we expect Luwagga Kizito to join the team later today.” He added.

Uganda is pooled in group D alongside Comoros, Burkina Faso and their Saturday’s opponents Botswana. Only one team will qualify for the finals scheduled to take place in Gabon early in 2017. All the teams in a group will face each other in a round robin format both home and away.
