Uganda Cranes underperformed on Tuesday afternoon to concede a 1-0 defeat at home in Namboole against a not fancied Zambia side.

Chisamba Lungu struck the lone goal mid-way through the first half after fine work making inroads before releasing a powerful left foot strike which Isaac Isinde deflected to the dismay of Odonkara who had abandoned the near angle.

Zambia came into the game at the back of two defeats against Nigeria (1-2) and Zimbabwe (1-0) while Uganda had not won any of their last four friendly games.

Captain Geoffrey Massa saw his 7th minute brush off a Mawejje freekick bounce on the outside net.

Minutes later Mawejje arrowed in a low shot but again kissed the outside post and flew out.

Stophila Sunzu nearly gifted Uganda an equaliser in the 42nd minute but was lucky his keeper was near to clear the mess.

Oloya bursted into Zambia’s half from the left wing and braided through two green shirts before setting up Walusimbi whose low cross was deflected and tipped over for a corner.
