Police in Mbarara are holding a 40-year-old man on allegations of conning residents, information pills promising to get them State House education sponsorship deals.
The suspect purported to be a reverend attached to Rutherland Church Ministries, approved and also an official from the Office of the President.
Denis Muhangi, this site a resident of Buremba, Kazo in Kiruhura district was also found with identification documents from the Presidency, which however, according to Mbarara RDC Martha Asiimwe, seemed to be fake.
The suspect said he was working with Youth Vulnerable Children and Orphans (YVCO) based in Kampala operating under Rutherland Church which operates in parts of Ankole, North and Albertan region.
He was picked by police on Monday from Rwebikona trading center in Mbarara municipality.
It is alleged Muhangi, working on the orders of one Pastor Aaron Silibaleka of Rutherland Churches was targeting schools like Calvary Primary school in Isingiro district.

The suspect was also found to have been a teacher owning a school in Rwemikoma in Kiruhura district.
He is said to have conned dozens of people in the deep villages of Isingiro, Kamwenge, Kiruhura, Mbarara and greater Bushenyi where he collected millions of money promising to pay full school fees for the children of his victims.
Muhangi, when probed, confessed to police he extorted money from parents registering them to earn school fees and support from UK, USA, and Canada.
He further claimed they received permission to operate from one Hajj Zikuba working with State House, a claim the RDC said would be further probed.
RDC Asiimwe urged residents to be mindful of such conmen, saying, “Not everything that glitters is gold; people should be on the lookout for such thugs.”
