National basketball league defending champions City Oilers take on Kenya’s United States International University (USIU) on Thursday evening in the second semifinal in the men’s category.
Mande Juruni’s coached finished top of group B with maximum points winning all the four games in the group. They take on USIU who claimed the second spot in group B behind Rwanda’s Patriots.
City Oilers defeated Espoir from Rwanda 78-54 on Wednesday to ensure they take top spot with Samuel Ociti getting a game high 18 points.
The NBL champions will be aiming to make it to the final for the second time in a row after a narrow defeat (73-75) to Egypt’s Gezira in the finals last year in Rwanda.

The other semifinal will see debutants Patriots of Rwanda take on Kenya’s Ulinzi at 7pm(local time).

With two games left in the round robin format, the Nicholas Natuhereza coached side need to overcome Ubumwe on Thursday before playing KPA in the final game on Friday.
Gezira are the defending champions in the men’s category after defeating City Oilers 75-73 last year.
