Wanyana picks the second goal from the net

Uganda Crested Cranes are trailing Ethiopia 2-1 at halftime despite taking an early lead in the third place playoff match at the Fufa technical centre in Njeru.

Hassifa Nassuna extended her overall goal tally in the tournament early in the fourth minute after getting at the end of a mid-long clearance to loop over Ethiopia’s custodian Martha Bekele who was off her line.

Erhima Zeregaw pulled the Ethiopians level a dozen minutes later heading in Shetaya Sisaya’s cross from the left wing after dummying par two defenders.

Erhima nearly added another seconds after restart pouncing on wanyana’s failed clearance then slotted past Matovu but the ball hit the post.

Coach Majidah was forced to make an early substitution after Tracy Akiror failed to return after a collision with Emedit. Shakira Nalwooga replaced.

Erhima added the second goal minutes later to put the visitors ahead into the break.
