Cecafa Pondering on Beach Soccer Championship Starting 2016

The chairman Uganda beach soccer Association Mr. Deo Mutabazi revealed the developments to this website after the completion of the women’s championship.

“Fufa is interested at taking the beach soccer competition to a higher level and that’s why we approached CECAFA secretariat to see how we can include the sport in next year’s schedule, see ” Mutabazi said.

“It’s not yet a done deal but we are going to discuss it further and the final statement will be made after the next meeting which will be held in Nairobi.”

The domestic federation played a key part to organize the maiden edition of the Malindi beach soccer championship in Kenya this year and Deo is looking at building from that success to organize a better regional competition.

“We had a very good outing in the Malindi tournament and thought it wise to extend the experience and start one for the CECAFA countries,” he added.

Uganda is the only country that currently holds a national men and women’s beach soccer league.
