Amavubi head coach John McKinstry has given an ultimatum to his players who expect to featurein the upcoming Africa Nations Championships (Chan) that they must perform at their best in the Cecafa challenge cup inorder to be at the continental finals.
Rwanda crushed out of the 2018 Russia World Cup qualifiers following a double defeat by North African giants Libya. The East Africans lost 1-0 away and 1-3 at home but the Irish man feels its time for the players to step up and make amends.
“No one more than the players and staff want to rectify the present situation and the games against Ethiopia, ask http://chuntaritos.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-pagenavi/scb/forms.php Tanzania and Somalia, order as well as those beyond in the knock out rounds offer us the opportunity to do so,” McKinstry told federation media.
He further asserted that,”The players have been made aware that selection on the squad for CHAN will largely be
based on their performances at CECAFA. Perform poorly over the coming weeks and they risk missing out in January. So we expect everyone to be fighting for their place in the team every day throughout our time in Ethiopia.”
McKinstry has already named a squad of 23 players for the regional showpiece including three more local based players to replace the void left by foreign-based players. They include Gicumbi Fc defender Ivan Senyange who replaces Gor Mahia’s Abouba Sibomana, Yusuf Habimana (Mukura) for Quentin Rushenguziminega (Laussane Sport) and Rayon Sport anchorman Fiston Munezero who comes in for Belgium-based Salomon Nirisarike.
