CAF CL: Hardfighting Vipers Fall in Nigeria

Vipers Sports Club have been ejected from this year’s edition of the Caf champions league after falling 2-0 to their Nigerian counterparts Enyimba International FC in the second leg played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt.

Nigeria league all-time highest goalscorer Mfon Udoh was the man of the match netting a double in both halves for ‘the Elephants’.

Vipers entered this tie at the back of a 1-0 victory scored by Erisa Sekisambu in the first leg in Kampala a foetnight ago meaning they needed a draw or not a loss of more than one goal for any chance to progress.

Udoh broke the deadlock in the 34th minute from the spot after vipers’ captain Nicholas Wadada fouled  Batholomew Ibenegbu inside the box.
The ferocious striker finished the business at the interval with a sleek back heel.

The two time CAF champions progress to the next stage by 2-1 on aggregate where they will face Burundi’s Vital’O in the first round of the qualifying matches.

Vipers are expected back in the country on Tuesday evening to continue with the local assignments.
