Forum for Democratic Change leaders in Busoga region have launched massive campaign to flash the ruling National Resistance Movement out of the region.

The group led by the FDC chairman Buyende district, here Dr Dominic Wakabi held a press conference in Jinja today and spelled out their courses of action to frustrate the ruling party.

At the press conference convened at the Jinja town hall, adiposity Dr Wakabi accused government of playing politics of deception and manipulation, and that programs like Naads and Prosperity for all had not done much in transforming the Basoga.

He further accused government of turning Busoga region into the country’s hub of poverty and underdevelopment.

Dr Wakabi also dismissed assertions that the appointment of the Bugiri woman MP, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, as the new NRM Secretary General would add support to NRM in the region.

The continuous challenge like poor health, unemployment, poverty, poor roads and dictatorship, he said had pushed the people to demand nothing less than change of government.

“As FDC leaders from this region we have set plans to flash off NRM out, and revamp the fallen Busoga from the problems affecting us,” he said.

While Busoga region over the past elections had proven President Yoweri Museveni’s stronghold, political analysts there hold that 2016 might be tricky, thanks to such issues as the recent highly contested election of the area King.

The famous February 2013 Kyankwanzi resolution is also said to have been unwelcome in Busoga, as many were looking at Kamuli Woman MP Hon Rebecca Kadaga as the potential replacement of President Museveni.

Meanwhile at the conference, Jinja District FDC Chairman Mr Abubaker Maganda , vowed to deal with  NRM leaders who threaten voters to vote NRM .

Maganda added that the party would soon launch into regional tours, campaigning against the NRM.

NRM chairman Jinja district, Mr Majidu Dhikusoka, said the opposition leaders were free to carry on with their campaigns as long as they remained peaceful.
