Bukalango Priest’s Court Summon Extended

Buganda Road Court Magistrate Anyeko Suzan has extended the criminal summons to Bukalango High Priest Msgr. Expedito Magembe and seven others who are accused of defaming one Fr. Jacinto Kibuuka and conspiracy to misdemeanor contrary to Sec. 391 of the Penal Code Act.

This followed Magembe’s and colleague failure appear in court despite being duly summoned.

The suspects are accused of conspiring to give false information and publishing defamatory matter concerning the person of Fr Kibuuka alleging that he had sexually assaulted and threatened
a congregant Ms Nantongo.

Only Nantongo who is among the accused, was in court today. Defense told court that her co-accused Semei Wesali is out of the country

During to today’s session, Edward Mutakirwa the defense counsel representing Semei Wesali and Nantongo Winfred, asked that court allows this matter to be referred back to Ecclesiastical Court of Kampala Diocese for reconciliation.

The magistrate has adjourned the matter to 21st June.

Ms Nantongo is independently charged with another count of giving false information to a person employed in the public service contrary to section to 115 (c) of the Penal Code Act .

The state claims that the suspect on January 20, this year at Central Police Station gave a one detective Denis Odongo police officer false information that she had been threaten by father Kibuuka well knowing the said detective would invest his time investigating the matter.
