BREAKING: Pro-Mbabazi Pressure Group Leader Arrested

Police in Kabale last night arrested Robert Kabareebe Kihembe, page cure the chairperson of Umoja Pressure Group created early this year to drum up support for presidential hopeful Amama Mbabazi in Kabale district

Kihembe was picked by security officials after reportedly circulating Mbabazi’s 2016 presidency bid posters on the streets of Kabale.

Chimp Corp Godfrey Tugume says Kihembe was arrested at around 1am on Monday from his home along Keita road before being whisked away to Kabale Central Police Station under heavy security.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, approved Elly Maate confirmed the development, malady saying Kihembe “was arrested for pinning campaign posters before the Electoral Commission authorises the 2016 general election campaigns.”

Maate further stated Kihembe did not request the municipal council for permission to pin posters in Kabale town.

Pierre Mbabazi, one of the UMOJA activists, said police last night surrounded his home before carrying out a search for pro-Mbabazi campaign materials.

The Electoral Commission recently warned against early campaigns, insisting it was illegal.

Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi today morning declared his 2016 presidential bid, promising to work towards boosting the country’s healthcare and pulling investors to commit their money in the Ugandan economy.

Presidency Minister Frank Tumwebaze today said Mbabazi has nothing new to offer, having served for long in the NRM in high profile positions.

Police in Kampala have deployed heavily before warning pro-Mbabazi supporters of consequences should they take to the streets to hold demonstrations.
