Bobi Wine, EC Sued Over Voters Register Update

Candidate Bobi Wine is being sued for election malpractice

Muwadda Nkunyingi a registered voter in Kyadondo East and one of aspirants in the oncoming by-election has dragged the Electoral Commission, health Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine) and IGP Gen Kale Kayihura to court for mishandling the ongoing voters register data update exercise in this constituency

In his petition, capsule Muwadda accuses the electoral body of leaving its work of updating the voter’s register to Mr Kyagulanyi, buy more about who is one of the aspirants.

He claims that on May 24 2017 (yesterday) he saw Bobi Wine’s agent taking over Electoral Commission’s role under Police’s protection which is violation of national and electoral laws.

It is on this basis that Muwadda wants court to halt the ongoing exercise of updating Kyadondo East Voter’s register and an order stopping the EC from adding the data collected on the Voter’s register

Muwadda further wants court to issue an order barring Police under IGP Kale Kayihura and Bobi Wine from interfering with EC’s role of organizing free and fair elections; a court order restraining Gen Kayihura from using Police as an individual to aid, abet and facilitate Bobi Wine in illegal activities of usurping constitutional powers of the Electoral Commission.

The plaintiff on 23rd May 2017 picked nomination forms from the office of Returning Officer Wakiso District to contest in the Parliamentary race.

The High Court registrar is yet to summon the three respondents in this matter to file their defense.
