After months of successive political predicaments, former Prime Minister Hon Amama Mbabazi finally had something to smile and dance about.
Mbabazi yesterday convened his family members to mark his 66th birthday. He was born back in 1949 on January16.
The somehow low-toned party was held at his city home in Kololo yesterday and attended by close family members.
Mbabazi said he was grateful forthe 66 years, which he termed as “miraculous.”
“I am thankful for family and friends and certain of an even better future, ” he said.
At the party, both the former NRM kingpin and his wife Jacqueline Mbabazi looked thrilled and ecstatic.
Thousands of Mbabazi’s fans took to social media with congratulatory messages.
“Finally a politician who celebrates a birthday and freely announces his age..Happy Birthday,” remarked one Patrick Katende, in a seemingly veiled reference to President Yoweri Museveni, whose date of birth and age until recently, had remained a national myth.
In August last year, President Museveni held his first birthday party to mark 70 years, at his country home in Rwakitura.
Formerly inseparable mates, Mbabazi and Museveni’s relations gravitated lowest last year, after the former showed interest of contesting against the latter for Presidency.
Mbabazi has since been sacked as Prime Minister and also ousted from the Ruling NRM party Secretary General seat.
Back in 2012, while marking Amama Mbabazi 63rd birthday, Museveni heaped praises to the former, for his role in growing and expanding the ruling party.
He said that it was because of Mbabazi’s hard work and that of a few other living and deceased historics that the ruling party has managed to grow in membership and retain power.
