Opposition strongman Dr Kizza Besigye has expressed outrage after his preferred “combat action” shirt was damaged in a scuffle with police on Monday.
It all started with Besigye being informed that police had blocked his visitors from accessing the Kasangati residence.
An enraged Besigye stormed out of his residence before forcefully clearing the road of all police barricades.
The police tried to restore the barricades, viagra order http://collegenotester.com/applications/vanilla/views/view.php setting off a bitter confrontation with Besigye and his supporters.
The police were able to overpower Besigye before dragging him to a waiting van.
The former presidential candidate was detained at Naggalama Police Station until around 8:00pm when he was driven back home.
Upon release, Besigye Tweeted: “One of my favourite shirts ripped by police goons as they violently arrested me today. No charges and no document given. So, I hold onto APP.”
He referred to the shirt he has used during political protests in Kampala and beyond.
It’s being seen as a symbol of resistance against the state.
The fight at Kasangati underscored the increased tension between opposition and the sitting government in the wake of a disputed election.
Besigye has since refused to acknowledge defeat in this past election, saying it was rigged in favour of the incumbent.
But Museveni’s loyalists say Besigye has lost ground hence resorting to defiant activities to remain politically relevant.
